Eating Disorder Recovery Starfish

A couple quick rules:

1) This is a RECOVERY blog. Any “pro-ana” nonsense will be terminated immediately and forever. And you will be banned.
2) No numbers. That means no calorie counts, no clothes sizes, no weight measurements, nada. Again: recovery, guys.
3) Be nice to each other, please! And to me. Please be nice to me. :D?

FAQ

  1. Why a starfish?

Part of the reason is that I personally got a lot of help and support from the recovery site
Something Fishy. So I wanted a fish of some sort as a small homage, although I wasn’t going to insist on it.

Before I made this meme I looked to see if there were any other ED memes, and I only found two, both inactive: an elephant and a whale. Well, I thought that was in rather bad taste. I wanted something that was a little goofy, a little strange, and symbolic of recovery (also, cute). So, because I’m a nerd, I spent a good couple hours looking up animal symbolism on the Internetz. The starfish, as I found over and over again, represents healing, regeneration, intuition, and inspiration. I thought that was rather apt. (It also has some Christian / Virgin Mary symbolism, which is cool but irrelevant as far as your Jewish mod is concerned. :D)

There is also the starfish story, which I’m sure you guys know: thousands of dying starfish washed up on a beach, and one lone man throwing them back in the water, one by one. Someone tells him he’s not making much of a difference, and as he throws in another one he says, “It made a difference to that one.”

Finally, I’ve got a thing about the sea. You should see how many of my poems use ocean imagery (read: all of them).

TL;DR: starfish are cool and pretty and symbolize healing and I like them! I hope you guys like them too! :D

  2. How do I submit?

Go to  http://memegenerator.net/Ed-Recovery-Starfish  and make a post! Then come back here, click the “submit” link, and post it! If the generator doesn’t work for you (this seems to be a common problem, unfortunately), you can just send me the text and I’ll make it for you. Even if you’re just submitting text, though, please submit it as a photo post!

  3. Where is my submission?

Probably in the queue! At the moment it’s about a week ahead, so it may be a few days before you see your post. Alternatively, you may have used numbers or talked about losing weight. I’m really sorry but I won’t post these submissions. If about a week has passed and you haven’t seen your post, feel free to contact me and ask about it!

  4.  Who are you?

My name is Sara and/or Kass (I answer to both)! Here is my personal blog, if you’re interested (it’s mostly just Supernatural and Sherlock tbh). Feel free to ask me any questions you like, either here or over there!

I’ll add more to this page as we go!
